Elvis Costello FOH and Monitors Gear Up with VER Tour Sound
“He’s putting it out there every night, almost to the point of overdoing it; the set list is four pages long.” said Steve McCale, Monitor Engineer, describing his experience with the Elvis Costello and the Imposters tour. Pro Sound News recently spoke with FOH engineer Fern Alvarez and monitor man Steve McCale, who both used control and monitor gear provided by VER Tour Sound.
The Avid Venue S6L consoles were used for both FOH and monitors, sharing one stage box with no splitters. The S6L allowed FOH Engineer Fern Alvarez to worry less about front-end and alternative ‘stuff’ because the console does a lot of the work. Monitor Engineer Steve McCale could simultaneously mix the band’s in-ear monitors, wedges and side fills.
While Costello stuck to wedges for reference monitors, the band preferred JH Audio JH15 IEMs. VER Tour Sound also supplied d&b audiotechnik M2, M4, and Q Sub for monitor speakers and amplifiers.
