Trey Songz Tremaine The Tour
Trey Songz kicked off the “Tremaine the Tour 2017,” celebrating the March release of Tremaine the album. Trey put on an aggressive schedule, visiting 20 cities coast-to-coast in only 30 days. The venues varied drastically, from mid-size concert venues, to small theatres. All locations were expected to be packed with excited fans.
Lighting Designer Charles Ford was brought on to design and program the tour. “This is my second time working with Trey Songz, after previously collaborated on the Chris Brown / Trey Songz tour back in 2015,” said Charles. Charles has an impressive resume of lighting design/direction, supporting top acts like Prince, Cee Lo Green, Mary J Blidge, and Carly Rae Jepsen. The lighting rig for Trey Songz had to engulf each space with visuals, no matter the size of the project. Using the VER PreViz Suites in Chicago, Charles was able to programs lighting cues that would resonate regardless of location.
Charles worked with VER Lighting Account Manager Terry Heisler and Production Manager Daniel Prieto to rent lighting equipment and hire the lighting support crew. The Tremaine the tour rig included Robe BMFL Blades, GLP Impression X4S, Robe Pointe, Solaris Flare, and MA Lighting GrandMA2 console for control. The VER team packaged the equipment in a custom compact rig, reducing transportation footprint and significantly cutting back on setup/breakdown time.
Before signing off, Charles commented, “VER supplied [Trey Songz] an amazing package. They handled getting all requested fixtures without the need to substitute or sub-rent. All of the gear came QC’d and required no ‘on the road’ repairs. The package needed to be extremely compact. With VER support we were able to squeeze this package into an 18-foot truck space. Thank you!”
